One of the first things our clients ask us when they walk into our facility is, “How much does scalp micropigmentation cost?”
That’s actually a good question because you need to know about the total costs of the procedure before getting it done. Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is a relatively affordable treatment for hair loss.
So, how much does the procedure cost and what are the things you should keep in mind before getting the treatment done?
It All Depends on the Hair Loss
When you go for your first appointment, the first thing the artist/specialist will do is determine how much hair you’ve been losing. Alopecia and disorders that lead to hair loss affect different people differently. So, the first thing that the artist will assess is how much hair is remaining and how many bald patches need to be covered.
The artist will use a visual chart to analyse the problem and will then discuss options with you.
It All Depends on the Experience of the Practitioner
A novice will not be the same as an expert. If the practitioner has just started out and has been in the business for a couple of months or a year, they’ll charge less than a professional who has been in the business for years.
Since SMP is similar to tattooing, it’s recommended that you go with a professional who years of experience. They have the tools and expertise to make sure there are no problems. Furthermore, they will be able to provide you with samples of their work.
It’s better to invest in SMP once and get it done by a professional than to spend hundreds of dollars every month getting things fixed or corrected.
Some Clients Need Special Care
We get plenty of clients that come in for an SMP treatment but turns out, they need special care. Some of our clients have come to us with hair transplant scars. Transplant scars and alopecia usually needs to be camouflaged, which can result in extra costs.
Since there are more than 100,000 hair follicles, the practitioner will have to carefully implant 1,250 pigments into the follicles by hand. This means that the average cost you can expect from the procedures is approximately $2,000–$4500. If you feel that is too much, you can also negotiate with your practitioner and see if they can provide you with discounts.
Jaye from Scalp House is a certified SMP practitioner with years of experience. If you’re looking for an SMP studio that offers exceptional hair loss treatments, look no further; we’ve got you covered (pun intended!)
