Family Hairlooms: How Scalp Micropigmentation Changed My Life

Growing up, I always wanted to be a model or an actor. I wanted to be big like my favorite celebs. I wanted to be a star. I imagined myself in all of the Tom Cruise and Leo DiCaprio movies. My parents always taught me to live and chase my dreams.

Luck was by my side for some time when I got a few modeling gigs during high school. They were nothing too big but I became somewhat of a celebrity in my small home town. I was finally livin’ the dream and would soon be signed for a movie by a major film production company.

At least that’s what I hoped for and believed. But my dreams quickly came crashing down right after I got a modeling gig at a major brand. The problem was my hair.

Yes, that’s right. I started losing my hair in my early twenties. I couldn’t figure out why. There were bald spots and patches on my scalp that I had never seen before.

When I went to the doctor, he told me it was alopecia. Upon further investigation, a lot of men in my family suffered from this disorder.

I was devastated and distraught. I thought I would never be able to live my dreams. I tried a lot of home remedies and even tried castor oil with olive oil. That helped a little but it wasn’t very effective. It only helped make my hair softer and shinier.

I was ready to give up on everything. I was embarrassed of going outside so I shaved off my hair and started wearing beanies and caps. After watching a few YouTube videos, I decided to get a hair transplant.

However, when I saw the price of the procedure, I felt miserable. I didn’t have $5000 for a hair transplant. I felt like crying. The only hope I had for dealing with alopecia was out of my budget.

But then one day, I saw an ad for scalp micropigmentation. I got curious because the name sounded interesting. I did some research and was shocked to see the pictures people were posting on their social media.

Then I came across Magda Cortez’s page and my mind was blown. She was a professional with years of experience and the results she posted on her social media were phenomenal.

So I quickly got in touch with her and booked an appointment immediately. I’m not going to lie, I was a little bit skeptical. Scalp micropigmentation looked promising and was comparatively cheaper than hair transplant.

But after the first consultation, I decided to give it a chance and I am glad I did! I only went for 2 to 3 sessions and it’s been two years. I now have a successful modeling career and I got a small role in a film as well! I’m so glad I trusted myself and went for scalp micropigmentation.
